1 IN600 - MODELS

The StreetInduction can be ordered with or without the aluminum anodized fittings, but still complete with authentic dummy barrel valve and hoses, and will mount over conventional style 4150/4160 Holley, Demon (Not Demon Jnr) or Quick Fuel Squarebore Carburetors or the popular Edelbrock Performer / Carter AFB carburetors, including the Edelbrock 1800 Thunder Series with a minor base adapter modifications, and with manual or Electric Choke

2 IN600- RAM TOP COLORS

The StreetInduction can be ordered with Red, Blue, Silver or Black tops

3 IN600- WHAT ENGINES WILL THE IN600 STREET INDUCTION FIT

The base of the IN600 STREET INDUCTION is designed to be as universal as possible and can be fitted to almost any engine. The shape of the bottom of the body is designed to blend as nicely as possible with any intake manifold and still have a universal application. The StreetInduction adapter plate is secured to the manifold, (not the carb), by two through studs that pass thru the StreetInduction adapter and into two of the carburetor base mounting holes. The best ingredient for a "good looking" fit is to polish the manifold and also taking the time to fit it down low just not quite touching the manifold. By the time you fit hoses throttle linkages plug leads thermostat housing etc it can look pretty realistic.

HOLLEY CARBS - AVENGER SERIES HOLLEYS
The
StreetInduction is designed to fit carburetor / manifold combinations using HOLLEY 4150-4160 series 390-950 CFM Vacuum Secondary or Double Pumper Squarebore Carburetors with manual and electric choke and minor modifications in some instances.

EDELBROCK PERFORMER and CARTER AFB CARBURETORS
The
StreetInduction can be ordered to fit the standard #1400 part number series squarebore Edelbrock Performer carburetors, along with the Carter AFB (5 1/8" neck) Comp series Carburetors which is what the Edelbrock Performer carburetors are based on.

Because the StreetInduction is designed primarily around the carburetor, it's universal application is not limited by the style of manifold and engine brand, of course it may be necessary to relocate some O.E.M. or aftermarket equipment such as brackets, throttle springs, hoses etc on any engine.

4 IN600- HOW IS THE IN600 STREET INDUCTION MOUNTED TO THE CARB/MANIFOLD

The StreetInduction base mounting plate is securely fastened to the manifold (not the carburetor) by two 5/16" allthread through studs that replace two of the bolts that normally bolt the carburetor to manifold. One is at the front left hand side of the carb, and the other at the right rear side of the carburetor. These studs come up through the carburetor base and then extend up through the IN600 adapter plate. The IN600 adapter plate is then lowered over the studs and sat nicely down onto the carb neck. There is a 5/16" nut each side of the IN600 adapter plate mounting boss to retain and tension the IN600 adapter correctly . The IN600 body is then lowered over the adapter plate and filter and securely mounted with 2x 5/16" capscrews. For carb tuning or maintenance simply remove the two capscrews and lift the StreetInduction off.

5 IN600- CAN I FIT THE IN600 TO ANOTHER CARBURETOR

ROCHESTER
The
StreetInduction is designed around the Holley, Demon, Quickfuel and Edelbrock Carburetors mentioned, however we know of at least one customer who has successfully custom fitted one to a Rochester Q-jet, anyone could with a little mechanical ingenuity make the StreetInduction fit other Carbs with a 5 1/8" neck, however in most cases it would just be a lot simpler to switch over to a Holley or Edelbrock carburetor.

DOMINATOR 4500
There is no
StreetInduction model for a 4500 Dominator. part of the design on the Induction body was to keep it as narrow as possible, the problem with a 4500 Dominator would be the neck size and consequently seat area for an air filter element. and this is where the dominator would start to work against you.

6 IN600- WILL THE IN600 CLEAR DISTRIBUTORS AT THE FRONT ON FORDS

Yes the STREET INDUCTION body will clear the normal diameter distributors on both Big Block and Small Block ford engines. Larger diameter HE distributors would probably clear on Big block fords but you would need to keep to the stockish type distributor size on the Small blocks.

Go to Point 9 IN600- IN600 DIMENSIONS AND TUBE AND RAM TOP LENGTHS to get an idea where the front and rear of the body will finish out from the center of the carburetor.

7 IN600- WILL THE IN600 CLEAR HEI GM ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTORS
SMALL BLOCK CHEVY
The StreetInduction won't clear a GM HEI electronic ignition on a small Block Chevy unless you cut the back of the StreetInduction base a lot for clearance, you would need to put a smaller diameter distributor in like a mallory or accel, or a standard early chevy distributor will fit and you can also get that design as a quality replacement electronic distributor from MSD.

BIG BLOCK CHEVY
As a general rule they will just fit HEI’s on Big Block Chevy’s

.8 IN600- WILL THE IN600 STREETINDUCTION WORK IN THE RAIN

The top flat part of the StreetInduction base body casting has large holes through the body, above the two tubes at the front, and the two tubes at the back. The four center tubes are blocked so the carb is covered and air filter can seal, this also protects the carb and filter from the rain.

The 'tube adapters' that the tubes insert into have drain grooves on the underside of the tube adapter's where they bolt to the top of the
StreetInduction body, so any rain that goes down the tubes can run out. This is for the four center tubes, the end tubes as stated above, have large holes and any rain that goes down will just run onto the intake manifold and disperse, no different to running a real injector or blower through the hood.

The
StreetInduction can draw air down the end tubes the sides and the underneath of the body and comes with a standard aftermarket paper style air filter element. If you are in a particularly rainy area you can run a K&N air filter element in the StreetInduction which will last virtually forever.

The IN600
StreetInduction comes with a 2 1/2" high hi-performance paper air filter element, you can change this over to a K&N air filter element Part No E-2764 if you want to. This would definitely be recommended if you were in a particularly rainy area because the K&N's have a lifetime guarantee. It is also claimed that they will not suffer air flow loss even when wet.

9 IN600- IN600 DIMENSIONS AND TUBE AND RAM TOP LENGTHS

Overall height - With staggered tubes - 20 1/2"
Overall height - With even tubes - 19"
Overall height (with tubes cut down to 3") - 16" (shortest IN600 can easily be made with even tubes)

Overall height - Of assy without tubes 11 1/2"

Average overall width - 7 1/4" - (8 1/2 at extreme lower edge of base")
Average length of body 15"
Average length at top of tubes 17"

IN600 Dimension Page Click Here

10 IN600- WHAT KIND OF TUBE ARRANGEMENT CAN BE USED

The StreetInduction can be assembled with a staggered or an even tube arrangement. The product comes with 4 long and 4 short tubes, if you would like to run even tubes simply cut the 4 long tubes down to the same length as the short tubes, or shorter if desired.

11 IN600- WILL I ORDER THE IN600 WITH EVEN TUBES OR NOT

The tube lengths as supplied with the IN600 StreetInduction are 4 long and 4 short, If you want to run an even system you just cut the 4 long ones down to the same length as the short ones.

If you have already decided that you want to run an 'even tube' setup let me know and I will ship it this way so you don't have to do the cutting.

If you are undecided, you can leave the unit to be shipped with the 4 longs and 4 shorts and then when you get it you can put the 4 short tubes in the front and have a look and see if you like it like that.

The ram tube tops just slip on nicely so you can play around with the desired height and once you have decided on finished height, you then use clear silicone to fix them permanently to the tubes.

Don't forget to spend the time to carefully wipe the tubes clean from excess silicone and finally use a solvent to fully finish clean things up.

12 IN600- HOW ARE THE RAM TUBE TOPS FIXED TO THE TUBES

The ram tube tops just slip on nicely so you can play around with the desired height and once you have decided on finished height, you then use clear silicone to fix them permanently to the tubes.

Don't forget to spend the time to carefully wipe the tubes clean from excess silicone and finally use a solvent to fully finish clean things up.

13 IN600- HOW DOES THE FUEL LINE CONNECT TO HOLLEY'S ON THE STREET INDUCTION

If the carb is a standard 4160 series vacuum secondary type carb, like a 600cfm you can use a HOLLEY part number 26-25 swivel barb and the inside of the body will clear this. This will take a 5/16" id fuel line hose that will run straight down and slip out under the base of the induction body.

On the center hung 4150 series vacuum secondary, like a 750cfm 3310 list or double pumpers like a 4781 850 cfm you have to use a separate fitting at each end, with a steel tube coming out and bending down to start with, or you could obtain XRP/Russell/Earls/Speedflow type anodized fittings and custom make a fuel line setup.

You cannot use an ordinary aftermarket chrome dual feeder fuel line setup.

Each bowl needs a separate line coming from it and they can meet at a 'Tee' junction at any convenient location.

14 IN600- FUEL LINE CONNECTION TO EDELBROCK/AFB CARBS ON THE STREET INDUCTION

The fuel inlet for the Edelbrock Performer carburetors is located on the rear passengers side of the carburetor, and in some Comp series Carter AFB's on the rear drivers side This is accommodated for when the side cutouts areas of the StreetInduction body are machined when ordered for this carburetor.

Some AFB carburetors may have front entry fuel inlets, but this would be no problem because there is plenty of room at the front for a fuel hose to come up under the body and into the carburetor.

15 IN600- MY CHEVY DISTRIBUTOR VACUUM CAN HITS THE INDUCTION BODY

You don't need to cut the Induction body.

All you need to do is re time the distributor, so that it rotates the distributor body, and vac can, clockwise looking down on it.

A simple remedy is to rotate the distributor clockwise (looking down on it) 1/8th of a revolution, from where it originally used to be. This will generally be enough to rotate the distributor vacuum can out of the way of the Induction body.

This will then require you to bring the wires back to where they were, by jumping all the wires back to the next tower, in an anti clockwise direction to bring them basically back to where they were in relation to your original timing.

You will still need to put a timing light on the engine to get the timing exactly where you normally have it.

You can drop a distributor into an engine with it pretty much in any position you want to so long as it will physically clear the things around it.

Put the engine in the firing position #1 first, and then drop the dizzy in roughly where you want it, then you will need to focus it in more closely by rotating it slowly against the direction of the rotor rotation (the body will need to be moved anti-clockwise looking down on it) until you get the points just to start opening, whatever plug wire tower your rotor is pointing at when the points just start to open will become your #1 plug wire tower, and then you just put the plug wires into the distributor cap in a clockwise direction in respect of the firing order, 18436572, and then you can start the engine. You will still need to put a timing light on the engine to fine hone the timing exactly where you normally have it

If you are not too sure on this you just need to get a savvy friend to put the dizzy in to clear the Induction body and set the timing and leads up right.

16 IN600- WHAT TYPE OF AIR FILTER DOES THE IN600 STREET INDUCTION USE

The StreetInduction as supplied comes with a 2 1/2 " tall hi-performance paper air filter element formed into an oval shape.

The two front and two rear tubes of the
StreetInduction have large holes at the bottom of them, so cool air can enter from outside the engine bay through these tubes as well as enter up from underneath the StreetInduction body as well. The base of the center tubes are blocked because the underside top of the StreetInduction body is actually the top of the sealing area for the air filter element.

17 IN600- WHAT K&N AIR FILTER ELEMENTS FIT THE IN600 STREET INDUCTION

The StreetInduction comes with a 2 1/2" high hi-performance paper air filter element, you can change this over to a K&N air filter element Part No E-2764 if you want to. This would definitely be recommended if you were in a particularly rainy area because the K&N's have a lifetime guarantee. It is also claimed that they will not suffer flow loss even when wet.

Part No Height

E-1070 2.00"

E-1080 2.25"

E-2764 2.50"

E-9080 2.75"

E-1120 3.00"

18 IN600- AIR FLOW WITH BIG BLOCK TYPE ENGINES

It depends on your engine , you want to get as much filter in as you can, the Inductions are now shipped with a 2 1/2" tall air filter element, so they will, generally speaking, fit manifolds with a carb pad height up to 5" high, and for mild type BBC engines, generally speaking, this will be fine.

If the engine is pushing the street 'performance' area, you will want to be looking at a manifold that has a carb pad height of approximately 4 1/2" which will allow you run a 3" tall K&N air filter element in there. This information all becomes a lot clearer with the instructions, and when the unit is sitting in front of you.

For carburetor mounting height considerations click here

Because the
StreetInduction is narrowish in the body to look like a real injector, the only way you can go with the filter to increase size is up, and a lot depends on what you are using the engine for, and this is really the only way to get 'this LOOK'!! Without the associated problems and costs of running a real injector.

19 IN600- WILL THE IN600 ACCEPT AN ELECTRIC CHOKE

Yes, the StreetInduction will accept electric chokes on the Squarebore Holley, Edelbrock Performer and Carter AFB carburetors.

20 IN600- ARE ANY MODIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR DOUBLE PUMPER HOLLEY'S

The only possible modification needed on the Double pumpers is if you have a HOLLEY Double Pumper Carb with the 50 cc accelerator pumper and arm, which is generally only on one end of the 850' cfm carburetors and above. These have a large heavy duty pumper operating arm and you have to swap the 'Big' arm to a smaller arm like the 30 cc pumps use such as used on the front of the 850's the 750's, 650's or even the on the front of the standard type 600 and 750 vacuum secondary models etc. You swap the arm and pivot only, not the accelerator pump, and they seem to work just fine.

The 50 cc arms are just so big, and there is not enough clearance inside the body for them. If your carb has the smaller 30 cc pumpers and arms there is no modifications needed.

There are however two types of 30cc lighter weight pumper arms, you will want the one constructed with the main lever arm section of it close to the carburetor. There is another style constructed for some reason with the main lever part toward the outward side and this will interfere with the inside of the induction body.

21 IN600- WILL I USE A SINGLE OR DUAL PLANE MANIFOLD

You can run the unit on a Single or Dual plane manifold, possibly the Single plane manifold may be a little nicer because the port runners are generally always the same height, so the base of the induction will sit right down close to all eight runners. The overall appearance, however, is not really affected a lot between the dual and single plane manifolds by the time the whole thing is set up. The best ingredient for a super look is to have the intake manifold polished nicely.

22 IN600- CAN I SUPPLY MY OWN FITTINGS

The IN600hf and IN600ef comes with the color anodized ŒXTP / Rusell/ Speedflow/ Earls&Mac226; style fittings along with dummy barrel valve and hoses that run along each side of the product .

The IN600h and IN600e comes without the color anodized fittings, but still with the dummy barrel valve and hoses that run along each side of the product.

This allows the customer to choose whether to use the anodized fittings or choose a cheaper or different fitting if desired.

23 IN600- WHAT HOOD SIZE HOLE IS NEEDED

The minimum hood size hole you could for clearance around the StreetInduction would be 10" wide and 19" to 20" long depending on how the hood moves as it is opened

13 SC500 HARDLINE SPACER KIT

1 SC500- MODELS

The SC500 StreetCatcher comes Fully Polished (SC500pr or pb-) and is the correct model for direct mounting to 6-71 Blowers or any blower with a 6-71 type bolt pattern, it includes a base plate that bolts directly to the blower, and the scoop body that fits down over the top and encloses a Holley or Demon Squarebore double pumper carb inside. The SC500 will also accept the early BG double Pumpers.

It is a Super Quality Cast aluminum Street Scoop with a fully CNC machined front area and with the main body shape based on Enderle's Famous a Classic Birdcatcher Injector. Directed toward the Serious rodder the SC500 comes with either Classic Round or Barndoor style Butterflies.

The kit comes complete with all mounting bolts, a specially designed plastic air filter element adapter, air filter element and complete dummy barrel valve setup that operates the butterflies from the Carb side linkage.

These are quality Street Scoops that can be used in performance Street Street/Strip type engines and the
SC500 StreetCatcher is the lowest and only scoop in the world that will give you the real 'Blown and Injected look', with a scoop that narrows at the back like a real Enderle injector.

SC500pr Polished - Round Butterflies

SC500pb Polished - Barndoor Butterflies

2 SC500- BUTTERFLY COLORS

Butterflies available in RED, BLUE, SILVER or BLACK

3 SC500- WHAT BLOWERS WILL THE SC500 FIT

The SC500 StreetCatcher is the lowest and only blower street scoop in the world that bolts directly to GMC 6-71style blowers.

Although primarilly targeted toward the 6/8-71 size Street Blowers as far as application goes, the SC500 StreetCatcher base adapter plate is designed to bolt directly to any blower with the standard GMC style '6 bolt' bolt pattern including, Weiand, Hampton, Dyers, Mooneyham, BDS, The Blower Shop, 6 thru 14-71's

It can be ordered to bolt directly to 4-71's, and could be adapted to 6V71's and any other 'similar entry' sized blower, either by drilling a custom bolt pattern SC500 base adapter, or by making a custom 3/8" thick adapter plate that is first bolted to a blower with countersunk allen head capscrews, and also drilled to accept the SC500 standard adapter plate..

4 SC500- WHAT CARBURETOR WILL FIT INSIDE THE SC500

The SC500 StreetCatcher is designed to accept and work with the standard universal type Holley and Demon 4150 series 600 thru 950 squarebore double pumpers only.

The Holley HP series carbs are available with up to 950cfm plus, and will also fit inside the SC500, the only difference is some HP series Holley don't have the lower bracket part that hangs down at about 6 o'clock on their main throttle linkage that is used to operate the butterflies on the SC500. Check your carb has this part of the side linkage , if not you can always fabricate up a small bracketr and fix it to the carb side linkage to operate the scoop butterfly shaft.

BARRY GRANTS
The early Barry Grant double pumpers that were virtually a direct copy of the Holley DP's would also fit in no trouble at all

DEMONS
The SC500 will also accept Demon 4150 style doublle Pumpers, with slight modifications CLICK HERE .

Holley's step down about 3/16" from the carburetor neck to the top of the front float bowl, but on the demon it is level with the carb neck, so the plastic adapter needs to have material removed in this area. An area about 4 1/2" wide needs to be sanded away where it sits above the front bowl, from the carb neck part of the plastic adapter and tapering to nothing as it comes to the front of the plastic adapter.

5 SC500- WHAT FUEL LINE CAN I USE ON THE SC500 STREETCATCHER

The SC500 StreetCatcher will accept the standard type Holley chrome dual feeder tubes commonly used on the double pumpers. You can also use the nicer Earls /XRP/ Speedflow anodized Blue and red aluminum fittings if you want to, and when these type of fittings are used you can route a custom concealed fuel line up to the back bowl.

6 SC500- WHAT ARE THE OVERALL DIMENSIONS OF THE SC500 STREETCATCHER

Height: 6 7/16" including base plate

Width: 12 3/4" Main Body

Total assembled overall width: 14 5/8" includes butterfly shaft bosses and barrel valve linkage

Length: 16 5/8" Main Body

Total overall length: 17 3/4" - includes mounting flange at rear of scoop

Mounting adapter base plate height: 1 3/4" (Bolts directly to 6-71 type blower bolt pattern)

Height of STREETCATCHER body alone: 4 5/8"

Click for SC500 Dimension Image Page

7 SC500- SC500 AIR FILTER

The SC500 used a standard aftermarket air filter element formed into an oval shape. We have found this works amazingly well on 6/8-71 blowers even with blower ratios approaching 1 to 1.

For high air flow the standard SC500 paper air filter element can be replaced with a K&N E-3527 if desired Click Here,

These are quality Street Scoops that can be used in performance Street or Street/Strip type engines and the
SC500 StreetCatcher is the lowest and only scoop in the world that will give you the real 'Blown and Injected look', with a scoop that narrows at the back like a real Enderle injector yet, still has a Carburetor and air cleaner inside.

8 SC500- CAN YOU FIT DUAL CARBS INSIDE THE SC500 STREETCATCHER

No you cannot fit the SC500 StreetCatcher over dual carburetors.

If a scoop were made to fit over for example dual Holley's, you would need to allow for butterfly opening, ie extra clearance inside the scoop for the butterflies to open back inside of the scoop in the vicinity of the front bowl, before you could start to position your front carburetor.

Thing is, you want the thing to look right and not be stretched all out of shape. Also you need to get some sort of air filter in there etc. Dual Edelbrock Performer or Carter AFB's would be easier because they are shorter, but then the fuel line comes out at the top, back, right or left hand side of those carbs

It can get pretty tricky if you take into consideration all the angles.

9 SC500- SC500 CARB TO BARREL BUTTERFLY OPERATING LINKAGE

The SC500 comes with al 3/16" stainless steel rod and has two 3/16 female rod ends attached to operate the butterflies thourgh the dummy barrel valve, from the Double Pumper lower carburetor linkage

This linkage would be set with a rod end center to center length of around 6 1/4".

It is designed to work off the lower part of the Holley universal side linkage and move the butterflies the correct amount.

If you have an HP series Holley they don't have this lower bracket part on the linkage, it is only the standard double pumpers that have them.

If you don't have it you would need to fabricate this part and bolt it with a couple of small capscrews or weld it to the Holley linkage

This bracket hangs down below the Holley butterfly shaft 1 3/16", and at the 6 o'clock position, when mounted this way it should move the linkage forward around 1 5/16".

You don't necessarily have to work the butterflies from here, but it is the easiest way, whatever you do you will want to make the linkage to this arm move approximately the stated 1 5/16".

10 SC500- HOW IS THE THROTTLE CONNECTED

All the hardware to connect and operate the butterflies is included with the SC500 StreetCatcher, however the main throttle linkage connection is up to the customer.

There are a number of ways to achieve this.

These include either a linkage system comes up over the back of the blower and that pushes forward on the lower part of the exposed double pumper side linkage.

Another way is to operate the carburetor by a custom throttle cable setup.

A simple and popular method is to use a -4 Earls / Russell / XTP / type Teflon lined flexible braided brake hose and associated fittings as an outer cable that routes up over the back of the blower and finishes just short of the underside of the scoop body, near the back of the carb. These fittings are nice because they are designed to be custom assembled, so you can make them whatever length you would like to. Then make the inner cable run through this and extend out and up under the scoop body and connect by a clevis or rod end or whatever to the Holley throttle side linkage

11 SC500- CAN THE SC500 FIT THE LOW PROFILE WEIAND / HOLLEY 144 to 177 type blowers

It could be adapted, and it would work fine, the main problem is that the if you placed the outlet of the SC500 StreetCatcher directly over the inlet of these smaller blowers, the SC500 StreetCatcher would be positioned too far back and the rear of the scoop would sit some 2 or so inches behind the back of the 177, and maybe up to three inches on a 144.

What it really needs is an adapter that transitions the 4bbl hole out of the scoop and toward the back of the adapter which will have the reverse effect of sitting the scoop further forward.

We have considered making this but it requires a pattern with a core and may look at this in the future.

12 SC500- WILL THE SC500 FIT A MEGA BLOWER

The original MegaBlowers when B&M made them had separate single and dual adapters for a while, but then they cast only dual carb capability into the case and you couldn't change it.

If they have a removable carb adapter it would be possible to custom adapt them.

13 SC500- SC500 HARDLINE SPACER KIT

The spacer is available so that you can run an Enderle hardline tube kit underneath the SC500 StreetCatcher to really give the 'Blown and Injected' look, and still clear the car linkages. It has no functional purpose.

The SC510 StreetCatcher is a Single four barrel Scoop that is designed, and supplied with the hardware to fit directly to the universal Holley, Holley Avenger, Holley Hp series 4150 and 4160 series carburetors and the similar Early Barry Grant and Later Demon series carburetors along with the popular Carter AFB, and Edelbrock Performer carburetors.

The
SC510 StreetCatcher however could easily be made to fit pretty much any carb, or TBI with a 5 1/8" neck. The only thing you would need to do is maybe change the allthread mounting stud shape a little or with basic fabricating skills make an appropriate bracket here and there.

4 SC510- HOW IS THE SC510 MOUNTED

The base mounting adapter is securely mounted to the manifold (not the carburetor) by two allthead 5/16" unc studs that pass through the carburetor base into the intake manifold.

The
SC510 StreetCatcher adapter neck is angled so the Scoop will sit level with the engine.

5 SC510- 510 STREET CATCHER DIMENSIONS

Height averages 6 1/2" including base plate (see below)

Width 12 3/4" Main Body

Total assembled overall width 14 5/8"- includes butterfly shaft bosses and barrel valve linkage

Length 16 5/8" Main Body

Total overall length 17 3/8" - (includes mounting flange at rear of scoop)

SC510 Carburetor adapter height 2"

Height of STREET CATCHER body alone is 4 5/8"

Height of SC510 Scoop Assy setup looking side on (with standard adapter height)

Looking at the Scoop/Adapter directly side on, and imagining a line drawn horizontally and level with the Carburetor neck mounting surface:(where an air cleaner would normally sit on)

Height scoop will sit above this line at front when taking measurement '10 3/8" forward' from center stud of Carburetor is: 7 3/8"

Height scoop will sit above this line at rear when taking measurement '6 1/4" back' from center stud of Carburetor is: 4 7/8" (not including rear flange)

6 SC510- STREET CATCHER IN THE RAIN

Rain is no problem, because most driving is done at part throttle and the butterflies will be pretty much closed so rain can't enter the front easily like an open Hilborn style street scoop.

The only thing you would have to take care of is to shield the distributor from getting water on it, as per any open hood situation, otherwise there would be no other major considerations.

The scoops come with standard Hi-Perf paper filter elements but you can also run up to a 2 3/4" x 10" diameter (a lot bigger than other single street scoops) high quality K&N filter element which will not be affected by the weather.

K&N claim that there filters will still flow the full amount of air even if they are wet.

If you did hit wide open throttle it wouldn't make any difference anyway even if a small amount of water entered any engine, on some blown engines on the street, they inject water into the engine to cool the charge and resist the possibility of detonation.

7 SC510- HOW IS THE THROTTLE CONNECTED

Your main throttle linkage will not be affected by mounting the SC510 StreetCatcher

The
SC510 StreetCatcher is supplied with all the hardware to connect the lower Holley / AFB / Edelbrock Performer carburetor linkage which pushes toward the dummy barrel valve, which in turn operates the butterflies.

If in your application you want or need to run a 'pull' system to operate your butterflies you can by mounting the barrel valve upside down.

Click here for 'push' or 'pull' linkage options for operating the butterflies

8 SC510- AIR FILTER

The SC510 StreetCatcher comes with a 2 1/2" x 10" hi-perf paper air filter element, which is much larger than any comparable single 4bbl street scoop.

The
SC510 StreetCatcher will also accept replacement K&N, or similarly manufactured air filter elements like the Accel Foam dual element style up to 2 3/4" in height. The direct height replacement element is a K&N E-2764.

K&N replacement filter elements

Part No Height

E-1070 2.00"

E-1080 2.25"

E-2764 2.50"

E-9080 2.75"

9 SC510- WILL THE SC510 STREET CATCHER FIT A 4500 DOMINATOR

We will be making an SC510D StreetCatcher for single Dominators soon, however at the moment there is currently nothing available other than a customer custom fabricating a base adapter himself for this Scoop.

10 SC510- CAN I RAISE OR LOWER THE SC510 FOR MY APPLICATION

Yes you could either raise or lower the SC510 if desired.

Raising
Raising the
SC510 StreetCatcher would either require a 5 1/8" neck spacer, the appropriate height placed between the carburetor and the SC510 StreetCatcher adapter, or you could place an appropriate height Carburetor spacer under your carburetor.

The
SC510 StreetCatcher comes with mounting studs 2" extra long that will allow the inclusion of a spacer that mounts the base adapter up to 2" higher if desired. If you want to go higher you can buy some 5/16" allthread threaded rod and make your own studs.

The only other consideration is the '3/16" linkage rod' from the Carburetor side linkage to the dummy barrel valve for operating the butterflies will have changed for a longer one.

Lowering
Lowering the SC510 is a simple matter of just cutting the neck part of the base adapter down, there is a line cast about 3/4" up the base adapter neck, this can act as a guide when cutting the base adapter down.

11 SC510- IS THE SC510 SCOOP A BLOWER

The SC510 StreetCatcher scoops are not superchargers or dummy superchargers, a lot of guys think this is the blower (blower or supercharger, same thing) but it is not. On a race car this would be called the injector, it is part of the air/fuel system.

If you don&Mac226;t have a blower, the SC510 is the correct model to fit a single 4bbl carburated engine.

The
SC510 StreetCatcher wont really make any difference to your horspower, it is mainly for looks, but it is a quality unit shaped just like a real 'Enderle Birdcatcher' Injector.

The
SC510 StreetCatcher is a Street type Scoop only, which can actually be converted at a later date by ordering the right base kit to be a SC500 blower or SC520 dual carb Scoop , for use in supercharged, or tunnel rammed 'normally aspirated' engines.

Height of STREET CATCHER body alone is 4 11/16"

4 SC520- WHAT CARBURETORS WILL THE SC520 STREET CATCHER FIT

The SC520Streetcatcher is designed to mount directly to Holley 4150-4160 series 390 - 950 cfm universal Holley, Holley Avenger and Holley HP series carburetors as inline or sideways mounted dual carburetor setups, as well as the Popular Edelbrock Performer - AFB Carter Comp series carburetors and also the Race Demons and Street Demons with slight modifications

With the 'Holley' and 'Demon' type carburetors you have to perform basic choke horn removal

Edelbrock Performer and Carter AFB's can retain the choke horn if desired

The
SC520Streetcatcher is primarily designed to mount to Dual Carb setups with a standard 8 5/8" center to center, the same as most 6-71 blower dual carb adapters.( which for example is the same as 2x 600 vacuum secondary Holleys, without rear metering blocks in-line and just near touching each other).

It is also adjustable with regard to the carb spacing, and will accommodate carburetor center to center spacings up to 9 3/4". There is, once you go over the standard spacing however, a limitation in regard to the height of the front air filter element. See point # 6

The
SC520Streetcatcher will fit Race Demons which come with no choke horn from the factory, and could be fitted toother 4150 style Demons with the choke horn removed. for more mounting info click here.

5 SC520- HOW IS THE SC520 MOUNTED

The SC520Streetcatcher uses a separate adapter for the front and back carburetors which allows an adjustability for different center to center spacings.

It is also possible for the
SC520Streetcatcher to mounted on Holley carburetors that are in-line or sideways mounted.

Each adapter is held down by the carburetor center stud and the scoop body is lowered over the base adapter / filter assemblies, and is secured by 2x 3/8" capscrews at the rear flange, and two 1/4 bolts on the under/outside of the front adapter.

6 SC520- AIR FILTERS

The SC520Streetcatcher as supplied, comes fitted with 2x 6/1/4" x 2 1/2" high hi-performance paper air filter elements. These are fine for normal street / strip type use in moderate applications.

The
SC520Streetcatcher will also accept replacement and taller K&N filter elements if desired.

With the standard 8 9/16" to 8 5/8" center to center you can run 2x K&N (Part Number E-3310) 6 1/4" x 3" tall filter elements if you want to.

Use of the 3" tall K&N air filter elements can only be achieved with the standard 8 9/16" to 8 5/8" center spacing.

Carburetor center to centers over 8 5/8"
If you want to use the
SC520Streetcatcher on an application where the center to center spacing is over 8 9/16" to 8 5/8" you can, but, you will need to change the front air filter element to a lower, approximately 2" high air filter element so that there will be clearance for the butterflies to open over the top of the front filter element.

A K&N filter element Part# E-3243 (6 3/8" x 2 1/16" high) can be used in the front in this application.

7 SC520- OPERATING THE BUTTERFLIES ON 'IN-LINE' or 'SIDEWAYS MOUNTED' CARBURETORS

The SC520Streetcatcher as supplied, has the hardware to operate the butterflies for in-line Dual Carb setups.

The dummy barrel valve setup on the side of the scoop can be set-up to operate the butterflies by either a 'push' or 'pull' linkage, depending on how the barrel valve is mounted.

For more information and pictures on mounting the barrel valve and operating the butterflies click here.

8 SC520- WILL THE SC520 FIT DUAL CARB EDELBROCK LOW -RISER 6 7/16" C TO C carb setups

As supplied the SC520Streetcatcher can not be used on this center to center application, but you could fit the SC520Streetcatcher to a 6 1/2" center to center carb setup, which has been done, by modifying the standard adapters, or you would need to basically make a new base plate setup.

You can still retain the filters that come with the
SC520Streetcatcher and they will work fine because they are 6 1/4" in diameter.

For an adapter you could make one complete flat plate made out of say 5/16" or 3/8" aluminum plate, cut two holes the size of the inside diameters of the filter elements 6 1/2" apart, and then make two 5 1/8" carb necks about 1" high and then weld them to the plate in the appropriate positions.

Then all you would need to do is fabricate a small crossbar system to hold the new adapter plate system down by the carb center bolts.

9 SC520- UNDERSIDE FRONT MOUNTING BRACKET

This drilled tab on the underside front of the scoop body is the front mounting boss when the scoop is used as the SC500 6-71 blower model, or the SC510 top mounted single 4bbl model.

If you ever in the future change applications and want to run the
Street catcher either as a SC500 or the SC510 you will need to retain the boss, and you can order just the base kit to swap applications.

If you are going to retain the dual setup and do not intend ever using it for anything else you can remove it (which would look a lot cleaner), all you need to do is take it to a local polisher and have them sand it off and polish the area up.

If you have removed it and really want it back later you could have a new boss welded on for a front mount.

10 SC520- WILL THE SC520 MOUNT TO DUAL 4500 DOMINATORS

The Streetcatcher can be ordered to fit onto dual 4500 Holley Dominator Setups that have a fixed Carburetor center to Center mounting distance of 8 3/4". The Part Number for this model is SC520-D. Unfortunately there are no air filters available with this model because the large necks used on the Dominators don't allow any seat area for the filters within the confines of the Streetcatcher body. GENERAL QUESTIONS

1 HOW DOES A BLOWER WORK
2 HOW MUCH 'MORE' HORSPOWER WILL A SUPERCHARGER MAKE
3 CAN I USE A SUPERCHARGER ON THE STREET
4 WHAT IS A GOOD BOOK ON SUPERCHARGING
5 WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SUPERCHARGER AND A BLOWER
6 IS THE BUTTERFLY SCOOP A BLOWER

1 HOW DOES A BLOWER WORK

Basically: A blower is an air pump

The energy used to make the power (by creating cylinder pressure by expanding it to push on the piston ) is in the fuel.

You can't just dump more fuel into the engine because it would just make it rich or flood it, so you have to find a way of putting more air into the engine, eg blower (supercharger is the same thing) , nitrous oxide, or in a normally aspirated engine - porting, cam, bigger valves etc etc.

In some engines one of these ways is used, or a combination of these options are used.

Once you have found a way of putting more air into the engine, which when heated will expand more greatly, (ie increased cylinder pressure) then you can put more fuel into the engine and still retain the air fuel ratio necessary for the engine to run nice.

The supercharger (Blower) is an advantage because it can be spun at a speed that will positively pass more air into the engine than that engine could possibly 'draw' in at any given speed by itself with just outside atmospheric pressure to charge the engine.

This is why blown engines build up boost or pressure in the intake manifold, and also why they build torque even at low revs.

This is why they need to be built strong.

Most street engines that run around 5,6,7, lbs or so boost can use pretty much stock engine components, once you go over this you need to start looking at stronger engine parts

2 HOW MUCH 'MORE' HORSPOWER WILL A SUPERCHARGER MAKE

Supercharger, particularly the 6-71 style blowers, are capable of making more horspower and torque than most engines can handle.

The limiting factors are the strength of the engine and the octane of the fuel.

6-71's will work fine on street type engines, and make good power with a 'moderate performance set of valve springs' and a mild hydraulic cam and 5-6-7lbs boost, over this and you might want to look at moving your engine components up with your boost, starting with the pistons.

Generally speaking most street usage will be looking at around the 400 to 500hp figure, and up as you get more serious. Once you get to the 500 600 plus HP area you are starting to get quite serious and some guys are even running up to 900 plus engines in the Street machines, but you better be savvy and really serious.

3 CAN I USE A BLOWER ON THE STREET

Blowers will work fine on the street, including bigger 6-71 style blowers. The best way to choose is to decide what type of look you want , ie big and out of the hood, or low and under the hood, and then make your decisions from there.

All will work for moderate performance usage, with the bigger blower tending to the more serious performance side of things if that is a goal as well.

If you hit really cold conditions this can hurt an un warmed. Even in relatively mild conditions you need to warm a street blown engine before you can get on it, because the carb is so far away from the pistons and the fuel will puddle until you warm the mass of the blower.

Driving in the rain with a butterfly scoop is not really a problem because when you are cruising the butterflies are just about shut anyway, and if you run K&N elements, which would be reccomended in particularly rainy areas, and which will handle water no problem at all

Even if some rain did go into the engine while it is running it wont hurt it, serious blown engines sometimes use water injection to cool the intake charge to help resist detonation

4 WHAT IS A GOOD BOOK ON SUPERCHARGING

Get the book "Street Supercharging, by Pat Ganahl and published by SA Design, this will help a lot, and put you in the right direction. Most performance shops or Technical book shops would have it.

5 WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SUPERCHARGER AND A BLOWER

A supercharger and a Blower are the same thing as far as the Performance industry are concerned.

Technically Supercharger being the more correct name when boost is being made.

Technically speaking they were called blowers when they were used on the stock production 6-71 type Detroit Diesels because on those engines they did not produce boost. They are 2 stroke engines and the blowers are necessary for shifting air at a quantity to keep the engine firing every stroke.

The word Supercharger is generally used technically speaking in engines where boost is desired.

6 IS THE BUTTERFLY SCOOP A BLOWER

The StreetCatcher Scoops are not Superchargers or dummy Superchargers, a lot of guys think this is the blower (blower or supercharger, same thing) but it is not. On a race car this would be called the injector, it is part of the air/fuel system.

The Supercharger is an air pump and in supercharged applications is the large unit that is mounted underneath the butterfly scoops, it has the toothed drive pulley mounted at the front to drive the Supercharger.
